Is your house solar ready?
Most of us in Singapore, live in HDB (Housing Development Board) apartments. If you are currently living in HDB, its good news as the HDB itself is deploying solar panels on many HDB rooftops. These panels powers the common services such as corridor/staircase lighting, lifts and water pumps. You can still buy solar electricity or solar products to go green and GoSolar.
If you are living in a landed property with access to rooftop, there is a better news as you can truly own a large solar system and power your household with green and renewable solar energy. The solar energy produced from the panels installed on your roof is first offset by your own electricity consumption. Should there be excess solar energy to be exported back to the grid, you will receive payment (the prevailing low-tension electricity tariff minus grid charge) from SP Services (SPS) by way of credit adjustment to the monthly electricity bill. Checkout the latest electricity tariff and grid charge (referred to as network costs) here.
Below is the process for your house to GoSolar in Singapore. You dont need to worry about finding a Licensed Electrical Worker as your solar installer will take care of that. It will take about 8-10 weeks for you to GoSolar after you pick up the phone to call or send an email to the installer.
